I mean the real one...
What’s Your Excuse?
We’re staying at an extraordinary B&B in Amsterdam right now. It’s got a 9.8/10 rating on Booking.com and I’m personally going to root out the miserable individuals who failed to score it a 10 and ask them why?
It’s simply gorgeous and Lizzy who runs it, prides herself on her hospitality. Nothing is too much for her. She’s really making us feel special. And we love it.
If you’re coming to Amsterdam and want a treat, here's the link or just click the image on the right 👉.
This experience reminded me of a scene in ‘ Inventing Anna’ on Netflix in which a tutor of one of the characters (who was being mean to someone), told her: “In a world, where you can be anything, be kind”.
I’m going to add being grateful to that. When you stumble across people like Lizzy, you’ve got to thank your lucky stars. She's someone who enjoys being kind to others.
Another scene in the Netflix series involved the boyfriend of the same character questioning her desire to be a filmmaker. She'd been saving up to make a film for years and he said; “Just make a film… everyone’s making films OK their phone.”
This leads on from last week’s question about the underlying problems preventing us from taking action. What’s your ‘real’ excuse? And most importantly, if you’re not being kind, ask yourself why not?
You may receive an interesting and illuminating answer from the ether.
This self-reflection will tell you more about yourself than about what’s happening ‘out there’. When we’re unhappy with ourselves, we take it out on others.
But charity begins at home, so be kind to yourself first and foremost.
Why not take a few moments this Easter weekend to be with yourself. Be thankful you are here. Be grateful that you can be kind to yourself and to others... and then pass it on.
